Este album de Dream Theater, deja entrever una potencia inusual en ellos, si bien en el disco anterior habian experimentado con the glass prison, velocidad y pesadez. Train of Thougth es la excusa perfecta para que los metaleros que, aún no se acercan a la musica Dream lo hagan. Y es que este disco esta lleno de poderosos riff más el trabajo de Petrucci es impecable, sus solos de guitarra, realmente hace que se te pongan los pelos de punta. En temas como As i am, This dying soul, Honor thy father la banda deja fluir su lado más metalico, sin temor a, tal vez, desilusionar a sus fan del espectro progresivo. Sin lugar a dudas, este es un gran disco en la carrera de Dream Theater.
